Since we have little ones, we know that packing for a family cabin vacation can sometimes be a chore. To ease your burden, we provide children's plates and cups, a high chair, pack n play (please bring your own sheets), child's potty seat, step stools for the bathrooms, and one booster seat.

A grill and propane tanks are provided for guest use.

The fire pit—surrounded by long benches—is perfect for gathering, roasting marshmallows, and sharing stories under the Adirondack sky. It’s one of the many spaces that make this one of the most inviting large family cabin rentals, designed for connection and relaxation. We provide a generous stack of firewood, though since we can’t guarantee it stays dry, you may want to bring your own or pick some up from local vendors. You’re also welcome to collect fallen sticks and branches from the surrounding woods.

In the cooler months, the wood-burning stove quickly fills the cabin with warmth and charm. We provide a few seasoned logs to get you started, and just a few more—available for purchase nearby—will keep the cozy atmosphere going for hours.

Game time is a highlight at large family rentals and this one is no exception. Challenge friends or family to a few rounds of cornhole, show off your skills at the foosball table, or face off at the full-sized custom pool table. Whether it’s a relaxed evening or a full-blown tournament for the competitive ones in the group (you know who you are!), there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

No stranger to hosting a crowd, this large family rentals features a fully-equipped kitchen that’s an entertainer’s dream. With generous counter space, two sinks, a Wolf gas stove with four burners and a center griddle, dishwasher, microwave, and a large fridge with ice maker (bring extra ice for big gatherings), it’s built for ease and efficiency. You’ll also find a wine drawer and bottom freezer for added convenience.

We’ve stocked the kitchen with all the essentials—and plenty of thoughtful extras: a Keurig and coffee maker (bring your favorite coffee), coffee grinder, crock pot, toaster, large toaster oven, pots and pans, roasting pan, tea kettle, baking sheets, blender, mixing bowls, cooking and steak knives, colander, measuring cups, tupperware, pie pans, full tableware, and even children’s plates and cups. If you’re wondering whether we have something, just ask—we probably do!

We also provide dish soap, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, a sponge, garbage bags, and basic cleaning supplies. We often have helpful staples like spices, oil, condiments, plastic wrap, and sandwich bags, but cannot guarantee this so we recommend bringing anything you know you'll need—especially if you plan to pack lunches daily.

Get ready for fun for all ages, making this one of the best large family vacation rentals in the Adirondacks! In addition to the foosball, cornhole and pool, we’ve got a great selection of classic board games, puzzles, books, and toys for the little ones.

Love sports? Enjoy our basketball court with an adjustable hoop, plus basketballs, soccer balls, and footballs for outdoor play. We also include a selection of seasonal gear to make your stay easy and fun year-round, including ice skates in varying sizes (and if we don’t have the right fit, rentals are available nearby), a few sleds for winter play, and a full assortment of beach toys for summer, such as noodles, floats, sand toys, and a small collection of life jackets in assorted sizes from baby through adult.

And don't forget to check out the details about our treehouse!

Doesn't everyone love soaking in a hot tub? What makes ours extra special is its location on the back deck, under a stunning starry sky. It's the perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure.

Note: Available only from Labor Day to end of April. Please bring your own towels, and flip-flops are recommended for access in and out since the hot tub is not covered. If it snows during your stay, kindly clear the snow off the hot tub cover before use.

We think good sleep is key on a family cabin vacation so all of our King/Queen beds are memory foam with a soft and firm pillow for each guest to choose from. (Full and twin beds have one pillow per guest). The bed linens are high quality, high thread count, 100% breathable cotton and every bedroom has room darkening blinds and/or curtains with a sound machine for sleeping in. For better quality sleep, we keep the bedrooms cooler, but for those who need it, we provide thick wool or fleece blankets for snuggling up so everyone is at a happy temperature.

We also provide 1 hand towel and hand soap for each bathroom, a bar of soap in each shower and one bath towel and wash cloth per guest. Please bring your own towel for beach/hot tub use. For guests staying longer than three days, laundry detergent is provided to freshen up towels.

We provide septic-safe toilet paper, napkins, and 1 large roll of paper towels for 3 night stays, 2 for longer stays. (We strive to be climate-friendly and aim for reusable products when possible so please bring more if you are a person who uses a lot of paper towels as opposed to hand towels or sponges).

We have radiant heat, which offers a cozy, consistent warmth that fills the cabin evenly, keeping you comfortable from the ground up—perfect for those cold, wintry days. The warmth feels natural and relaxing, unlike the dry, circulating heat from traditional systems. Plus, it’s silent, so you won’t hear any noisy vents, and it helps keep the air clean by reducing the circulation of dust and allergens. And the laundry room radiant floors are the perfect place to dry your wet ski gear at the end of the day!

We know how tricky it can be to travel with all your gear, so we’ve made sure there’s plenty of space to store everything here. Each bedroom has a suitcase bench, closet, and/or dresser for your things. The kitchen offers a big fridge and ample cupboard space for your food.

The mudroom is a great spot for coats, boots, hats, and gloves, with additional storage in the nearby laundry room. Plus, the radiant heat in the laundry room floor is perfect for drying wet ski or sledding clothes. It’s thoughtful details like these that make our home convenient for large family rentals. Just a heads-up—please leave your skis and poles on the front porch.

One of the highlights of a family cabin vacation at our place is the spring-fed swimming pond—14 feet deep with a thrilling drop-off to 6–8 feet right off the dock! It’s perfect for cooling off all summer long. We provide plenty of floats, water toys, and even a few kiddy life vests so the whole family can dive into the fun—just ask us or the caretaker for access.

Fish, frogs, and the occasional turtle are regular pond companions. Toss some bread into the water in the morning or evening and enjoy a front-row seat to the fish feeding frenzy (don’t worry—they won’t bother you while you swim!). A majestic Blue Heron often stops by to fish, and while you’re welcome to cast a line too, only the heron seems to have any luck!

Treehouse dreams aren’t just for kids—this forest hideaway is fun for all ages. Spacious enough to sleep up to 10 adults, the oversized treehouse feels more like a cozy yurt in the treetops. By day, kids can let their imaginations run wild—pretending to be pirates, explorers, superheroes, or fort-building champions.

Meanwhile, adults can unwind with a good book, sip wine under the canopy, play board games, journal, nap in the shade, or enjoy late-night chats by lantern light.

Whether you’re looking for a magical play space, a creative retreat, or a one-of-a-kind hangout, this treehouse is the perfect place for making memories—and it’s just one of the many reasons why this is one of the best large family vacation rentals in the Adirondacks.

A washer and dryer with some laundry detergent are provided as convenience to dry wet clothing or launder guest “spills”. It can also be used for freshening bed linens or towels during an extended stay.

Perfect for Family Movie Night or the big game, a 65” TV is located in the Living Room room with Roku, streaming apps (using your own log in) and a DVD Player with a few DVD's.

MEET YOUR HOSTS

Our Family

Heron Pond Hideaway is one of only a few family-owned and operated large family vacation rentals in the Adirondacks, created out of our love for gathering family and friends. Our own big family spans four generations and stretches across the country, yet we make it a point to reunite here at least once a year—even if we can’t all fit at the same time!

Scott and Shannon, our New York locals, take care of managing and maintaining the property, with the help of Ronnie and Kelly, our amazing caretakers who live in the carriage house on-site for guest support and property maintenance. We designed this home as one of the most welcoming large family rentals, so others can make memories the same way we have—laughing, playing, and enjoying the Adirondacks together. Whether you’re a returning guest or discovering your first stay, we can’t wait to meet you and share this special place.
